All About Studying Abroad at CETT Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy University

Welcome Back to this Weeks Blog!

CETT Tourism, Hospitality & Gastronomy University
This week, I will be discussing what it is like being an international student studying at the CETT Tourism, Hospitality & Gastronomy University in Barcelona. I find that studying abroad here is such a unique experience since it is catered to my specific major, and I am surrounded by like-minded people in each of my classes. While everyone in my classes is from all around the world, it really puts into perspective how Hospitality and Tourism are affected, no matter where you are in the world, and it is an important topic to so many others as well.

CETT Entrance
While the university is around a 30-minute commute from my apartment, it has actually helped me navigate the metros more efficiently, especially since I have to transfer metros from L5 to L3 every morning on my way there. Thankfully, the university is located right outside of the L3 "Mundet" stop, which makes it very convenient not even having to cross the street to enter the building (this is very helpful when it is raining). One thing that I found new here and I like is that
you are immediately required to scan your personal QR code upon entering the university for it to even let you in.

Aula & Espai Fòrum
CETT has two student-led restaurants on campus, which collaborate with the Gastronomy students during school hours. Aula is a nicer restaurant that requires a reservation of at least two people to eat there. The menu includes a selected piece of meat or fish, served as a second course and accompanied by two appetizers, a first course, and a surprise dessert. Espai Fòrum is a cafeteria-restaurant with to-go or dining in options. They offer a wide range of foods, typically healthier and seasonal.

Alimara University Hotel
Besides the two student-led restaurants, the university also has a four-star "university hotel" with 156 rooms, where students are able to apply their hospitality education in real-time. Alimara University Hotel is actually the first university hotel model in Spain that combines the hospitality and academic fields together, and it is conveniently located on the university campus.

Buddy Program
Another way to get involved and see a more local side of Barcelona is to join CETT's Buddy Program. This program is offered at my university to help international students have someone to talk to and ask for help when needed, so at least you will already know someone at the school when you arrive. There are also fieldtrips offered by CETT for you and your buddy to attend and explore the different activities in Barcelona.

So far, I have loved attending CETT and being around others who value hospitality and practicing sustainable tourism as much as I do. I believe that Barcelona is the perfect place to learn about these topics since we see examples of our lessons in real life every single day. Even my Spanish class I am taking at CETT, is one of my favorite classes, and has continued to help me improve my Spanish, which allows me to speak the language more confidently daily.

I have loved the variety of opportunities offered at CETT, and that is what makes it stick out for me.
See you next week!
